Bold: Stories and Poems

This collection of fifty stories and poems portrays predicaments and choices faced by children and adolescents in contemporary American society. The characters encounter situations in which a bold decision is required, and, having made a decision, they must accept the consequences, practical and emotional, that result. While some characters fall short of their potential, others grasp the opportunities before them and reach for new futures. BOLD serves as a window into modern adolescent society, an expos of the hidden challenges our daughters and sons explore in their youth. Sophie Swallow, fifteen, lives and writes in Sewanee, Tennessee. Following a childhood in Davidson, North Carolina and a second-grade year in Bordeaux, France, she enrolled in St. Andrew's-Sewanee School.
