Body, Land & Water
BODY, LAND & WATER
Body, Land & Water is a collection of abstract paintings exploring the interconnected relationship between the human body, natural landscapes, and elemental forces. Spanning works created between 2005 and 2012, the book presents a sustained investigation into color, surface, and emotional perception through minimalist and color-field abstraction.
Through layered pigments, subtle textures, and restrained compositions, the paintings evoke states of transition-between presence and absence, solidity and fluidity, interior sensation and external environment. Rather than depicting literal forms, the works invite intuitive and subconscious responses, allowing color and material to function as carriers of memory, movement, and spatial depth.
Created by Rozita Sophia Fogelman, a Russian-American conceptual artist and eco-art activist, this body of work reflects an early foundation in her interdisciplinary practice. The paintings anticipate later research-driven explorations of sustainability, material reduction, and post-material visual systems, situating the project within a broader inquiry into the relationship between art, ecology, and perception.
Body, Land & Water serves both as a visual archive and a contemplative meditation on abstraction as a means of navigating personal, environmental, and emotional landscapes.
