Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita 2023

The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (2023), which replaced the Code of Criminal Procedure (1973), came into force on 1 July 2024. Passed by the Parliament in 2023, the new Act, along with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, aims to revamp the Indian criminal justice system by replacing the dated colonial-era laws through adopting a victim-centric approach and addressing present-day requirements.
