Susanne's son has not been the same since his combat service ended. Gone is the wild child that she had tried for so many years to tame. And what of his two roommates? Have all three of these military veterans been inside their house for almost a year? She wants to help these bright, competent young men who are suffering from post-traumatic stress, but she has issues of her own. Introverted and anxiety-prone, she rarely steps out of her own carefully protected world. In a snap decision, she gives them her dog - her irrepressible, adventuresome dog - a dog that craves human interaction, thrives in the out-of-doors, and refuses to take no for an answer. Will it help them? Will they care? Will they even feed her? In her efforts to assist her son and his two friends, Susanne begins to heal herself.
