Originally published in pamphlet form, Martineau created a series which intended to teach readers the principles of political economy by means of fictional illustrative stories set in a variety of social communities. This particular volume contains the tale “For Each and For All,” about the new wife of Lord F---, discussing social class, labor, capital, supply and demand, among other economic principles along the way.
