Stevenson’s final novel, Weir of Hermiston was left incomplete at his death in 1894.  Published in 1896, the story is set in Edinburgh and the Lothians against the backdrop of the Napoleonic Wars.  Despite its unfinished status, the story of the young laird Archie Weir and his struggle to break free of his tyrannical father''s influence is considered Stevenson''s masterpiece.
