The great Roman general, Mark Antony created a blazing trail of glory across the whole of Italy and its annexed territories in the late Republican era. His renowned courage and awesome reputation as a gritty do-or-die cavalry leader in his earlier years were second to none. He eventually rose to the dizzying heights of consul - the most powerful civic position that the cursus honorum path had to offer in Rome, through a quirky twist of fate. But his volatile nature was such that it risked tarnishing all his heroic achievements and providing insidious ammunition for his enemies. Yet this extraordinary and noble character was destined to be forever overshadowed by two even greater men, who were to ultimately prove to be both a blessing and a curse to him and both bore the same name...Caesar...
