Analysis and Theory of the Emotions

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. IN a work published by the Author a few years ago, entitled An Enquiry into the Principles of Human Happiness and Human Duty, a detailed account was given of some of the principal desires, chiefly with a view to their influence upon human happiness; but no attempt was made at a general classification and theory of the Emotions, such as is contained in the present volume. Those desires which were treated of at large in the previous work are here but briefly noticed, the reader being referred to the Enquiry for a fuller investigation.
