All Gilyarovsky

Vladimir Alekseevich Gilyarovsky (1855–1935) - Russian writer, journalist, well-known descriptor of Moscow customs. In like-minded circles, he was known by the nickname "Uncle Gilyay." A colorful personality, a skillful humorist and satirist, Gilyarovsky served as the prototype of the ataman Sirko for the painting by Zaporozhtsy (1891) by Ilya Repin.
