Alexander Vasilievich Sukhovo-Kobylin (1817-1903) is one of the most sought-after Russian playwrights, the author of the great theater trilogy - "Krechinsky''s Wedding", "The Affair" and "The Death of Tarelkin". A tragic paradox: comedies, the characters of which laughed all over Russia, were created by a deeply unhappy person accused of murder. He wrote Krechinsky in prison, got up at four in the morning, did gymnastics and worked until late in the evening.
