Agricultural Learning in Mato Grosso

Mato Grosso, an essentially agricultural state, has, in the educational establishment called Aprendizado Agr cola "Gustavo Dutra" (Gustavo Dutra Agricultural Learning), the seeds of this vocation, foreshadowed by the Get lio Vargas government in 1943. The establishment of Aprendizado Agr cola "Gustavo Dutra" in Mato Grosso was considered a major milestone in Mato Grosso agriculture at the time. The aim is to analyse this educational establishment within the context of the educational system of Mato Grosso between 1943, when it was created, and 1947, when it acquired the name Escola de Inicia o Agr cola "Gustavo Dutra" (Gustavo Dutra Agricultural Initiation School). The idea conveyed about the Gustavo Dutra Agricultural Apprenticeship at the time of its institutionalisation, with special emphasis on that disseminated by the newspaper O Estado de Mato Grosso, was that the Apprenticeship constituted a major dividing line between two eras of agriculture in Mato Grosso: the first, without the school, when agriculture was implemented in an extensive, empirical, extractive manner, and the second, with the school, when it took on another format, more rational, experimental and scientific, as it produced 'promising transformations in rural activities'.
