In the midst of this, Adam Blackwell and his friends stumble across the rift and find these mysterious beasts which they dub "Shades" strange non-substantial beings of the deepest black, they give the feeling as if nothing is there. Like a void. They find these creatures and set in motion a catastrophic series of events that will span across three volumes and change the world forever. All the while, a strange young woman haunts Adam's dreams, and he must find what she has to do with these events before it is too late.
