We never know how well any of us are prepared to make life anddeath decisions, but that is exactly what Margaret and Davidfaced in 2003. After their third son, Christian, was born, it wasimmediately apparent that there was something wrong. When hewas diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, David andMargaret were given three choices: take him home and allow himto be with his family as he passed away, see if he could become acandidate to receive a heart transplant, or have Christian undergoa series of surgeries that would effectively replumb his circulatorysystem.
