Åbo Båtvarf 1889-1954

Åbo Båtvarf, operating from 1889 to 1954, was the biggest boatyard in the Nordic countries and a major player throughout Europe. Over 5,000 boats were built at the yard. Its activities have played a significant role in the development of Finnish pleasure boats and racing boats. The spectrum of production ranged from rowboats and lifeboats as well as gunboats and torpedo boats to luxurious sailing yachts and motor cruisers. These boats have been enjoyed by well+known industrialists and statesmen as well as royal families.

The reputation of Åbo Båtvarf soon extended beyond the borders of Finland. The products were exported to the upper class of Russia, to yachtsmen in Europe, all the way to United States and South America. In the 1930's Åbo Båtvarf was one of the most famous Finnish brands in the world.
