A Day in the Park: A short story

Once in a while we are placed in the position of having to offer a gift. If we give it serious thought, it could become a very demanding task. The gift should represent the feelings of appreciation we have towards the person. If well chosen, it could become an indelible experience. In a special way, is an opportunity to contribute something of great value. My mother's ability to choose the proper gift became legendary. Simply by selecting something the person alone would have never done. Generally it was something of very little economic value, but certainly transcendental What follows is a little story, about the subtle way a grandfather chose to contribute the most valuable aspect he could to his grandson's character.
