30th Punjabis

The history of the 30th Punjabis, an infantry regiment of the British Indian Army, can be traced back to the mid-19th century when it was formed to secure India’s north-western frontier. During World War I the regiment formed four battalions, but the Indian government reformed its armies soon after the War, moving from single battalion regiments to multi-battalion regiments, and the 30th Punjabis became the 1st Battalion 16th Punjab Regiment. In this book James Lawford examines the uniforms, equipment, history and organization of the 30th Punjabis, from 1857 to the days leading up to the partition of India in 1947.
