The novel "The Twelve Chairs" is a famous, brilliant novel from Russian satirical literature, by its authors Ilya Ilf and Yevgeny Petrov, that needs no introduction. Published in 1928, the plot of the novel is based on the search for the diamond hidden in one of Madame Petikhova''s Twelve Chairs. But the novel is not limited to being a novel of interesting adventures and pranks, but rather gives "a comprehensive panoramic picture of its era and environment," from a social and political standpoint, in a sarcastic, sarcastic style. Soviet literary circles received it with much caution and anticipation, support and opposition. Since its appearance, it has received great admiration from readers and has been republished several times. It was also filmed in a movie in the 1930s in Moscow. Until the Central Committee of the Soviet Communist Party issued a decision to ban it in 1948, and the ban continued until the mid-fifties when Khrushchev came to power. It was always published with sections of some chapters deleted, and two entire chapters were not approved by the censors during the Soviet rule. It was transferred to cinema and television several times in the Soviet Union, Britain, America and other countries. The novel was not published in full until after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1992. It was translated into many living foreign languages. This translation provided by Dar Al-Rafidain is the complete translation of the novel and the first into the Arabic language.
