The French writer Alexandre Demas Sr. was famous for his historical novels with a sense of adventure. They called him the Great to distinguish him from his son who bears the same name. His works have been translated into nearly a hundred languages, making him one of the most famous French writers in the world. Among his most prominent works are: The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers, which were published as literary serials. His novels have been transformed into cinematic works since the early twentieth century for nearly two hundred films. Deep down, Alexandre Demas despised the historical novel; He considered it a kind of falsification of history, and he was bored by nature. He could not tolerate a settled life for long, so he separated from his wife and decided to stop writing plays and devote his efforts to novels. So he returned to his first biography with women''s romances and adventures, and at the same time he turned to writing Adventure stories of historical origin. The novel "The Three Musketeers" was his first work in this field, and it was published in 1844 AD. The following year, he published its second part, entitled "Twenty Years Later." The third part was the novel "The Man in the Iron Mask", which revolves around the mysterious prisoner imprisoned behind an iron mask in the king''s prisons, and with it the epic "The Three Musketeers" was completed.
