Statement to the Friends of the N. C. Insane Asylum

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. In View of the labored efforts which have been made to dis credit the decision of the Board of Directors of this institution in the recent investigation of charges against its Superintendent; in behalf of the fair fame of the noblest public charity of your fathers, and in simple justice to the Board and myself, I wish to lay before you the facts from the records of the institution, and the evidence in this trial, and ask your candid consideration.
