Somalia is often misunderstood and misjudged, tarnished by decades of negative imagery due to civil strife, political dysfunction, clannism, terrorism, piracy and natural disasters, including droughts and floods.Steve Tunnicliffe spent his adolescent childhood years in the country before it descended into chaos. He encountered traditions, customs, and practices that predate Islam, many of which are likely to have vanished by now.
