She-Who-Loves-Silence

Out of old Egypt and across the centuries, a lost love endures. The cobra-goddess Meretseger, the "e;Lover-of-Silence"e;, becomes weakened as her shrines are abandoned. Now mortal, her spirit is fragmented into three, and her body is killed by rival priests. But her last earthly worshipper, using books of papyri which she has written for him, revives her, and he begins the quest to re-combine her three ghost-forms: ka, ba and akh. He carries with him the embalmed, un-dead Meretseger, and two female shawabti - loyal servants - and he has followed the many reincarnations of the goddess along the shores of the Roman Mediterranean, through mediaeval Europe and on to Georgian England. At last he finds Mary - the true likeness of his Lady. Now Mary is sent through her past lives in search of the Amulet of the Cobra - once possessed by the goddess and the key to her Re-combination.
