Secret organization

This collection of short stories is considered one of Naguib Mahfouz''s most important narrative productions. As usual, many of his works are characterized by a philosophical character and a deep, comprehensive existential vision. The collection was written during the decade of the 1980s, which witnessed a wide variety and diversity in terms of the intellectual, religious, and political currents that were shaping the scene, as well as the economic transformation and its effects that affected the nature of Egyptian society. In the story "The Secret Organization," for example, we learn about a man who decides to join a secret organization, in an effort to achieve justice and freedom for society. We experience with him the three stages that he is forced to go through and learn about their specific pattern in organizational work. Therefore, it is one of the stories that bears many interpretations according to the symbols and references it contains.
