This practically oriented casebook presents the currently available methods of swallowing diagnosis and typical findings in neurogenic dysphagia on the basis of case reports. Rarer forms, such as myasthenia gravis and Miller Fisher syndrome, as well as dysphagia of nonneurogenic origin & for example, in COPD, ventral cervical spondylopathy, and head and neck tumors & are also discussed. Fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) is an essential part of the section on diagnosis, complemented in some cases by videofluoroscopic or gastroenterologic findings in order to present important differential-diagnostic aspects as well. The original videos for the total of 22 case reports are available online as supplementary material.
