"I wrote this story - as some of them claimed - for nothing except that I wanted to try my pen in the story.. For this reason alone I wrote "Sarah", and it is a reason that may be true or have a share of truth if I believed that the story was a tax on every writer, or I believed that the story was the most honorable door of writing in the literary arts, or I believed that I was required to write on every topic that the authors'' pens wandered about."
