Nostalgia in Television Series. "e;Stranger Things"e; and "e;Mad Men"e;

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2021 in the subject Communications - Movies and Television, grade: 1,3, University of Trier, language: English, abstract: What types of textual characteristics are used to what extent to trigger nostalgia in people who have not lived in the time periods Stranger Things and Mad Men are set in? To better understand the topic at hand, nostalgia and intertextuality are going to be explained in the context of the media landscape, especially the interplay between these two concepts. Then the research status as well as the context analysis which is used in this paper will be outlined. Following that section, the chosen Stranger Things and Mad Men episodes are going to be analysed, and the findings compared and discussed. Lastly the research question will be answered, and the outlook for further research is going to be explored.
