MANGO

India is a major producer of mango, and exports huge quantity of the fruit to Europe, Middle East and other countries. To maintain the exports, fruit quality with regard to pest infestation , especially the fruit fly, an important quarantine pest, is of primary significance. The fruit flies attack maturing mangoes, and cause 5-95% economic loss depending on the variety. In recent years, the fly infestation has also become a major constraint in the export of mangoes from India.
