Explanation of Al -Muwatta - C50

Al-Muwatta'' and Malik''s book was better, more useful, and more influential than all the books that had been written up to that time. Caliph Abu Jaafar Al-Mansur (d. 158 AH) turned to Imam Malik during the Hajj season, asking him to write a book on jurisprudence that would bring together the diaspora and organize the writing according to scientific standards that he had set for him, saying: " O Abu Abdullah, establish jurisprudence and write books on it, and avoid the hardships of Abdullah bin Omar, and the concessions of Abdullah bin Abbas, and the strays of Abdullah bin Masoud, and aim for the middle matters, and what the imams and companions agreed upon, so that the people, God willing, will bear your work, your books, and disseminate them. In the regions, we pledge to them not to violate them." Al-Mansour asked Imam Malik to unite the people on his book, but he did not answer him, and that was due to his complete knowledge and fairness. He said: "The people have gathered and learned about things that we have not seen" from the Hadith Sciences by Al-Hafiz Ibn Katheer.
