The Compile of Four Cun is a masterpiece of Yan Yuan, a philosopher in the early Qing Dynasty, including The Compile of Cunxing, The Compile of Cunxue, The Compile of Cunzhi, The Compile of Cunren, all in The Compile of Four Cun. Yan Yuan (1635-1704), called Yizhi and also called Hunran, a native of Boye County, Baoding Prefecture. The Compile of Four Cun comprehensively revises the predecessors' words quoted by Yan Yuan in the book, and most of the books cited use the Song, Yuan and Ming engravings, so as to clean up the source and investigate the potential problems in the existing better versions.
