Branches

Branches is a series of short stories tracing the activities of three families as they take part in historic events in Scotland, Ireland and America in the period 1600-1800. Members of MacLean, Fisher and McKeen families are involved in theSiege of Londonderry (Ireland 1688), The Battle of Culloden (Scotland 1746), and engagements of Highland Regiments in America during the French-Indian War and the Revolutionary War (1757-1783). Stories of emigration to New England and Nova Scotia in the 1700s involve starvation, cannibalism, and piracy on various sea passages, as well as the rigors of establishing homes in a new land.
