Alternative Data

The so-called alternative data,e refers to non-traditional data. Currently, there is no unified definition of alternative data in this field, but it can be generally understood as data and information that are different from traditional data but valuable. Nowadays, more and more data is infiltrating our lives, but only when the data is valuable will it be useful. With the development of artificial intelligence and machine, we can extract features from seemingly disorganized massive data, and the development of cloud computing can effectively manage such data and efficiently train models. From an international perspective, many different types of alternative data have been applied to many economic-related fields, including images transmitted by satellites in space, posts on social media, and passenger flow in large shopping malls. However, there are no books in the Chinese market that systematically discuss and analyze alternative data, and this book fills this gap in the book market."e;Digital Economy Series 02 - Alternative Data: Theory and Practice"e; consists of 8 chapters. Chapters 1 to 6 introduce in detail the concepts, classification, challenges and risks, application processes, and value of alternative data. Chapters 7 and 8 respectively introduce different types of alternative data.
