What Shall it Profit a Man?

Konrad Bruning wants it all: adventure, wealth, love, and freedom. In search of his dream, he emigrates from the United States to Canada's Peace River Country in the early 1900s. But wanting it all does not guarantee that Konrad can have it all. Konrad quickly learns that the road to success is not a road, but is instead hundreds of miles of rail, muddy footpaths, horse and buggy tracks, raging rivers, drunken brawls, murder, sickness, and loss. Eventually, Konrad's past finds him and he is forced to resolve the conflict that he tried to leave behind: Is this life all there is, or is there more?
