Two Sonatas for Cello and Piano

The serene and songful middle section is like a Barcarolle. The second cello sonata opens with a contented and peaceful mood. The second movement is a simple and majestic hymn to the American Spirit. The final movement, with its driving rhythms and final hymn, is full of joy and optimism."
