This is a story about an elderly professor of epicurean attitude, a keen traveller, a ship-lover hobbyist and a music lover. He had been tormented by his spoiled marriage and futile search for compensation until he met an elderly lady and found something he had missed when being young and middle-aged: a love with mutual erotic fascination, in spite of all the adversities due to age and cripple-hood. This book may seem controversial and scandalizing, yet it is not pornography: the erotic matters are treated with aesthetic sensitiveness and tenderness, with the air of happiness, playfulness, sincere joy and humour. The principal characters are certainly not narrow-minded sex maniacs. They are rather of the intellectual type, having a liberal outlook on life, being interested in history and fine arts, travelling the world and appreciating the beauty of breathtaking landscapes and artful masterpieces, as much as the joy and pleasure of love and lovemaking.
