The sewing profession in Maroua

Maroua, the regional capital of the Far North of Cameroon, is the hub of several economic activities, both formal and informal. This is the case of sewing; this trade inevitably contributes to the socio-economic development of the populations of this regional metropolis, which is known for the weakness of industrial investments and job creation in this sector of activity. The sewing, which is rather in the informal sector, is considered a boon to a population marked by a standard of living that bathes in a precarious undecided. The proximity of this region in general and of the city in particular to the giant Nigeria, is an asset that facilitates the supply of raw materials. These tailors are now recruited from all social categories (unemployed, civil servants, housewives, migrants).
