The Promise Gift

If we are going to be a friend of God, we must be willing and ready to have a genuine relationship with Him. We cannot be true friends of God if we are unwilling to spend quality time knowing who He is and what He has done for us. God is not just a God that you pick up when you like and thrust to the side when you don't want Him. He wants to be a friend to you who sticks closer than a brother or sister; He wants to stay with you in the good and bad times, but for you to have this kind of relationship with Him, you must be willing to study the scriptures and encourage yourself in His word.
