The book discusses about the music industry, specific the Bongo Flava genre, in Dar es Salaam and Tanzania as a whole. It highlights the opportunities and challenges that young artists face in the industry. Youth involvement in music, to some extent, is a result of unemployment. Unemployment is a critical challenge to both developed and developing economies. It affects all individuals, however, to a large extent; youth are hit the hardest. There are various reasons that lead to increase in unemployment amongst the youth: lack of required skills in the market, slow and feeble economic growth, and fast growth of the youth population. To resolve the problem, some youth in Tanzania are making use of their talents to employ themselves in the music industry. The music and entertainment industry receive both female and male artists where they are able to make careers out of their talents. However, the young people despite their hard work fail to make substantial income equivalent to their effort in the industry.
