Sinfonie Héroique à Grande Orchestre, Op. 19

A composer of over 2000 works, this symphony newly restored from the original manuscript, was completed in 1817 during Neukomm's five year stay in Rio de Janeiro and reflects something of the magical landscape of Brazil in its musical forms. The third movement contains a quote from Handel's Judas Maccabeus', "See the conquering hero comes", better known today as the hymn "Thine be the Glory", and was probably intended to commemorate the return from exile and the ascension to the throne of the Portuguese sovereign, John VI. --- Diese Symphonie, wiederhergestellt aus dem Originalmanuskript, wurde von Neukomm, dem Komponisten von gegen 2000 Werken, w hrend einem f nfj hrigen Aufenthalt in Rio de Janeiro vollendet. Sie gibt Eindr cke der magischen Landschaft Brasiliens und seiner Musikformen wieder. Der dritte Satz zitiert aus H ndels Judas Maccab us', "See the conquering hero comes", heute besser als "Thine be the Glory" bekannt. Das Motiv wurde wohl anl sslich der R ckkehr von Joao VI aus dem Exil und der nachfolgenden Kr nung zum K nig von Portugal gesetzt.
