Port Environmental Management in the Companhia Docas do Pará

This academic work takes a critical look at the theme of the environment in all its spheres. It understands the man inserted in the environment as an active participant of the various processes that act in his environment. This participation in his environment triggers a series of socio-environmental problems resulting from his economic activities. Large business ventures, due to the fact that they use large areas for their facilities or the massive use of natural resources, generate environmental, social and economic impacts in the region where they are installed. The Environmental Management System is responsible for managing these impacts, as well as minimizing them, not only by following laws and norms, but also by understanding the problems caused by their activities, assuming an attitude of socio-environmental responsibility towards all the social actors that somehow interact in their ways of working and economic gains. The Companhia Docas do Par carries out port activities in the state of Par and understands the great environmental and social sphere of which it is part in the socio-environmental context with a political and educational focus in the realization of socio-environmental projects.
