Western governments are reducing their role and encouraging nongovernmental organizations to expand theirs in providing social, human, and communal services - a trend that is especially salient in the community sphere where neighborhood organizations are gaining increasing influence. This book describes the emergence and development of community organizations in Jerusalem and compares them to similar organizations in ten countries around the world.
