I'm used to helping people fight for their lives. But I've never had anyone in my corner before...

The ER department is chaotic and intimidating to most. But for me, it's one of the few places where I don't feel like a disappointment. Heading up the team of a busy Philadelphia hospital isn't exactly a picnic, but I'm confident here. Untouchable.

That is, until Carter Grange walks through the door.

He might be a little banged up, but that doesn't stop his muscular frame rippling with power - or his deep blue eyes from piercing my soul. Carter is definitely not the sort of man I need right now, but when we find ourselves thrust together again by pure chance...well, the chemical pull is irresistible.

Problem is, I have a messy past snapping at my heels, and a young daughter to protect from its clutches. This tattooed mobster isn't the kind of man I should be playing house with.

But when push comes to shove, will Carter step into the ring for us?
