Municipal Environmental Management

The work in question was carried out with the aim of analyzing the political-institutional structure of municipal environmental management in the municipalities of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, identifying the existence of secretariats and foundations, as well as budgets made available and environmental policy actions supported by the localities. A semi-structured questionnaire with closed questions was used to collect data and information on environmental practices in the different locations in the study over a period of one year, between 2013 and 2014. After tabulating the results, the information was interpreted qualitatively, seeking to describe and explore the subject in order to increase the amount of knowledge generated on the topics covered. The analysis concluded that the political and institutional structures present in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul still need to be developed so that municipal environmental management can make significant gains in efficiency, bearing in mind that many municipalities do not even have well-defined apparatuses.
