The piano sonatas by Nikolai Medtner (1879-1951) are represented by fourteen opuses, most of which have programm titles. The composer gives to some sonatas the poetic epigraphs, thereby concretizing the compositions' content. In some sonatas, all movements of the cycle have their titles. Medtner deeply rethought not only the substantive, but also the formal characteristics of the genre of a piano sonata. This edition includes The Triad of Sonatas op. 11 and Two Sonatas op. 25, compositions, most popular in the repertoire of students and of performing musicians. The collection is addressed to students of music colleges, higher schools, performing pianists.
