He had a little dog and we all slept together on the new futon mattress on the stone floor. One day he counted out his change from the street and said he couldn't stay any more. I ran into him awhile later at the coffee shop, out of the blue horizon, he was looking for me, one of his lovers had committed
suicide and he was worried for me. Thirty-six books of poetry later and . . . "
