John F. Hurley, S.J.

Father John Fidelis Hurley, S.J., aged forty-six, was a powerfully built and indomitable young man who assumed office as the superior of the Jesuit Mission of the Philippines in 1936. In this book, Father Hurley shares his experiences from the first days of World War II until the end of hostilities. He saw and endured the pain brought by war, but lived through it optimistically, first hand and vicariously, through the different personalities - American, Filipinos, Japanese, and others - whom he knew and with whom he came into contact.
