In 2009, the second of three DAAD PhD-Summer Academies on Human-Machine Interaction in Networked Systems and Multimodal Interfaces was hosted at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Duisburg. It is focused on four topics: Cognitive Technical Systems Adaptive Human-Computer Interfaces Ubiquitous and Mobile Learning Environments Mobile Collaborative Systems This book summarizes the lectures presented at the summer academy, making the material available to interested academics and students.
