El tomo I trata de toda la etapa colonial y primera intervenci n norteamericana, desde los or genes hasta 1898.

Escritas por un historiador que particip activamente en gran parte de la historia republicana y despu s de 1959. Lleg a ser comandante en la lucha contra Batista y muy temprano se opuso al r gimen totalitario implantado por los Castro. Como yerno del historiador Ramiro Guerra tuvo acceso a muchos de sus archivos y dedic los ltimos a os de su vida a escribir esta historia, de las m s documentadas que se conocen.

This is the first of five volumes which is considered one of the most complete works on the history of Cuba. The collection covers Cuba's entire history, from its aboriginal beginnings and conquest until the year 2000. This present volume deals with the entire colonial period and the first North American intervention (from the origins to 1898).

Written by a historian who actively participated in much of Cuba's history, before and after 1959. He became a commander in the fight against Batista and very early opposed the totalitarian regime implanted by the Castros. Furthermore, as son-in-law to historian Ramiro Guerra, Duarte had access to many of his archives and dedicated the last years of his life to writing this history, one of the most documented to date.
