Guatemala & Belize

Mesoamerica is a region in Central America and is the cultural area of pre-Columbian societies in the 15th and 16th centuries. The present-day countries of Guatemala, Honduras and Belize comprise much of Mesoamerica. This journal courses through those three countries visiting the ancient Mayan ruins of Copan, Tikal and Lamanai as well as the current-day Mayan villages around Lake Atitlan and elsewhere. For the holiday portion of this journey, the Belizean shoreline provides the backdrop: excursions delving into its scenic beauty and diving into its underwater life....and reveling it its vacation-party atmosphere.
