Transition metal dichalcogenide is a family of thin semiconducting materials in the form of MX2 in which M represents the transition metals molybdenum (Mo), tungsten (W), vanadium (V), etc. and X represents chalcogen atoms sulphur (S), selenium (Se), tellurium (Te).
