This collection, following on from Dachlan's Beatle Zevons: Verses for Fifty-Four Rockers, celebrates, in verse, another set of rock'n'roll singers, bands, producers, presenters and writers. In addition to pure rocky rollers like Johnny Burnette, Charlie Feathers and Larry Williams, tributes are paid to Merseybeatsters like the Big Three and the Undertakers, giants of reggae Desmond Dekker and Bob Marley, dangdut goddesses like Inul Daratista, an Italian rocker and an Australian country singer. Sam Phillips, Jack Good and other juju presenters and publicists make an appearance, as do tragic heroes like James Ray and Vince Taylor. A gothic genius and a rousing r'n'r revivalist are celebrated in a long songline and some Celtic magniloquence. Anyone remember Sugar Pie Desanto and Chan Romero? They're both here. And let's not forget Asia's contribution to early rock with Bill Forbes and Andy Tielman. So this one's for all lovers of vintage rock'n'roll and its colourful offspring.
