Experiences for Consideration in Fusion Power Plant Design Safety and Safety Assessment

This TECDOC provides an insight into the safety considerations for prototype, demonstration and prospective commercial fusion power plants (FPPs). It gathers the experiences and perspectives of Member States and captures the safety approaches of a range of currently operating and planned experimental FFPs, as well those approaches under development for proposed FPPs. It will be used to inform the IAEA's decision-making on the need for fusion-specific Safety Standards and design safety assessments. This TECDOC is aimed at public and private sector organisations with an interest in FFPs (including research, design, manufacture, construction, operation, regulation or technical support) and individual stakeholders involved in addressing the safety of fusion technologies.
